Length of clip: 1 min, 30 secs
Connecting Parents with Educational Opportunities (CPEO), Minneapolis Public Schools' answer to the Achievement Gap
CPEO is a seven-week course designed for parents; bringing schools, parents and community together as equal partners in the education of students. Offered by the Minneapolis Public Schools, in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, and English -CPEO reinforces the message that every child can be college ready. Seen by many to be a key component of closing the achievement gap, CPEO has graduated over 1000 parents since it's inception two years ago, and is now starting to see the children of graduates register for college.
Community partners include the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
