Aurora Charter School was founded in the year 2000, in response to the barriers that prevent Latino students from seeking higher education. Test results certified by the Minnesota Department of Education document that Aurora Charter School has made tremendous gains in closing the achievement gap for Latino students At Aurora Charter School, 8th grade graduation rates of 100% are proof of our commitment to academic excellence for each one of our students. The number of Latino students dropping out of school is on the decline in Minnesota. And for Latino students who do graduate from high school, the nationwide college enrollment has risen 20% in the last twelve years: from 49% in 2000 to 69% in 2012. Aurora Charter School is leading an initiative to establish a state seal of bi-literacy for all eligible English learners in the State of Minnesota. Meanwhile, we continue to operate a center of learning that embraces academic excellence and celebrates the gift of Latino culture.
